Arthritis

There are multiple types of arthritis -- degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis), autoimmune arthritis (for example, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis), metabolic arthritis (gout), and infectious arthritis.

Conventional medicine offers a variety of pharmaceutical drugs that are mostly focused on the goal of relieving pain. While pain relief is important, many of these drugs block the symptoms of pain and ignore the underlying causes of the disease. In addition, conventional drugs may cause multiple side effects, negatively affecting the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and immune systems.

Arthritis is caused by underlying imbalances, such as intestinal toxins and parasites, allergies, toxicities, nutritional deficiencies, an unhealthy diet, and emotional, psychological, and biomechanical stressors.

It is imperative to understand what is causing arthritis in each patient. Using traditional and functional medicine tests, we investigate the functioning of digestive, immune, and detoxification systems. We also perform dietary and behavioral assessments and build an individualized profile of the patient's condition. With this approach, we can identify the root causes of arthritis and develop an individual treatment plan that helps decrease pain and inflammation and improve mobility and quality of life.
