Dr. Yevgeniya Rabovetskaya, MD

My Journey

I have been a Board-certified physician for over 20 years. I've seen thousands of patients over that time and am very well aware of the health problems, so many people struggle with, including myself. For as long as I can recall, I have struggled with fatigue, allergies, and weight gain, the latter issue especially prominent during my teenage years, and becoming harder and harder to combat with age and the stress of life's challenges.

When I started practicing medicine, I found that fatigue is one of the most common patient complaints and one where, in most cases, traditional medicine is ineffective in identifying the culprit. Over the last few decades, we've witnessed tremendous medical innovation and scientific advances, yet at the same time, also a significant growth in obesity rates and a marked increase in preventable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and even cancer. I've found myself disconcerted by the growing incidence of autoimmune diseases and traditional medicine's approach to treatment by attempting to suppress rather than eradicate the underlying issue.

My personal and clinical experiences include a balanced approach, incorporating integrative and functional medicine into my practice alongside traditional medical practices to yield tailored and positive outcomes for my patients. In both my professional career and personal life, I've seen the benefit of embracing natural healing techniques, homeopathy, nutritional medicine, herbs, vitamins, and supplements, influencing long term health and vitality, fighting disease, and helping patients feel their best. By way of example, I discovered the blood type diet more than twenty years ago, and since adjusting my eating habits accordingly, I've ceased suffering from allergic rhinitis, chronic recurrent urticaria, eczema, and geographic tongue.

I've also seen the power of homeopathy firsthand. A few years ago, I was devastated to learn my mom had developed severe blood disease - it was far advanced, and the prognosis wasn't good. I took her to specialists and obtained second, third, and fourth opinions, but nothing offered by traditional medicine helped. In desperation, I consulted a homeopathic physician, feeling that we'd reached a point where there was nothing to lose. To my amazement, within a few months of following his advice, my mom was feeling better, more optimistic, and energetic, and we saw a striking improvement in her lab results. We were able to keep her condition at bay for many years, during which she was able to maintain her lifestyle and spend time with family. Homeopathy gave us a priceless gift for which we will be forever grateful.

When I felt my mom was finally out of the woods, I decided to consult her homeopathic physician regarding some of my own ailments, including the fatigue I'd suffered from my entire life, and for which I had consulted many physicians but to no avail - no one could find an explanation. He asked about my symptoms, prescribed homeopathy, and within a week of starting treatment, I began to feel better and more energetic.

Following these experiences, I began to study homeopathy on my own, referencing various sources and eventually taking the first training course in Clinical Homeopathy offered in the U.S. by the Center for Education and Development of Clinical Homeopathy, which at that time was taught entirely by CEDH President, Dr. Ronald Boyer, a gifted and immensely knowledgeable teacher whose enthusiasm for homeopathy he tried to impart on us as well.

I also studied epigenetics at the Walsh Research Institute in Chicago, seeking to better understand how our genes code for proteins and enzymes, how mutations result in the body making more or less of certain proteins, which in turn determine the production and metabolism of certain chemicals. These innate biochemical factors influence multiple traits, such as personality, behavior, mental and physical health, and immune function. Taking these considerations into account can thus serve as another step to better health through adjustments of one's biochemistry.

It is a lifelong journey, gathering knowledge and experience, striving with each step to bring about improvements in health and higher quality of life. My desire to heal and promote optimal wellness led me to study functional medicine at the Institute of Functional Medicine. This is one of the most influential and respected organizations in the world, teaching and promoting an individualized science-based approach to address underlying causes of the disease and restore health by addressing the root causes of the disease in each individual.

I believe in a holistic approach to treatment, incorporating multiple disciplines, and helping my patients attain balance and well-being. I start by taking an in-depth history, discussing past problems and current issues, I then select the appropriate lab tests which will help in assessing the patient's current baseline, and then on the basis of the patient interview and lab results, develop and guide my patients through a customized plan incorporating dietary changes and supplements to improve their biochemistry and help correct chemical imbalances that comprise the root cause of so many common and easily treatable ailments.

This is the beauty, challenge, and promise of functional medicine. You can take control of your health and reclaim your balance, energy, vitality, and wellness. Each patient is provided with a customized protocol according to his or her needs, condition, and priorities so that they can focus on living longer, healthier lives.
